Chaotic and picturesque Palermo, capital of Sicily, set in the Conca d’Oro on which Santa Rosalia watches from the top of the Mount Pellegrino, is simply a seductive city.
Colonized for three millennia, today’s Palermo is the mirror of history, languages, architecture, cuisine and habits result of a past that has refined and changed its connotations. Domination after domination.
The name itself reflects the multiculturalism of the city. The Greeks called it the Paleapolis area, namely “Old Town”. Later they called it Pánormos, or “all port”. The Arabs called it Bal’harm, the Normans changed its name to Belarmus. The influence of these names was then combined in today’s name: Palermo.
To help you organize your stay in this beautiful city, we have therefore prepared a list of the main things to see.
